Our expertise also extends to the blast cleaning of brick and stone buildings, as well as timber beams both internally and externally. Our many years in the business means we are familiar with the removal of many different kinds of coatings and the use of various kinds of abrasive and the effect they have on different substrates.
As a general rule we would use a fine light coloured abrasive for blasting softwood or oak beams at a lower pressure of 40-60 psi. For green oak we would use a higher pressure of 100-120 psi; this is nearly always necessary for the removal of saw marks and the blue staining caused by cutting.
